Material was spec-true, no surprises. That matters when I'm bidding tight. Wegravel has become my default for residential drops.

Half-acre project. The driver placed the load exactly where the crew could reach it. Saved us hours of shoveling.

What is Gabion Stone used for?

Angular 2"–4" crushed stone for gabion baskets, erosion control, channel lining, and slope stabilization. ASTM D6092 spec, ideal for wire baskets and riprap.

Gabion baskets & retaining walls
Fill galvanized or PVC-coated gabion wire baskets to build retaining walls, abutments, and slope stabilization structures. Angular 2"–4" stone packs tight and locks the basket.
Erosion control & slope stabilization
Armor slopes, channel banks, and shoreline edges against water and rain erosion. Heavier and more stable than smaller drainage stone.
Channel & ditch lining
Line drainage channels and stormwater swales to prevent scour and bank failure. Large size resists movement under high-velocity flow.
Pond & lake shore protection
Stabilize pond banks and lake edges against wave action and ice damage. Forms a permanent, low-maintenance armor edge.
French drains for heavy flow
Where standard #57 or #89 stone can't handle the volume — large drainfields, agricultural drainage, and stormwater detention basins.
Decorative & large-rock landscape
Anchor element in dry creek beds, around large specimen plants, and in xeriscape designs. Looks like raw quarried stone, weathers in beautifully.
Not ideal for these applications:
  • Not ideal for driveways (too coarse)
  • Not ideal for walking surfaces
  • Not ideal for fine drainage
  • Not ideal for concrete or asphalt mixes

Asked for FDOT-spec material and that's exactly what came off the truck. Driver had the ticket ready, weighed and clean.

Got a text when the truck left and another when it was 15 minutes out. That alone is worth switching from my old supplier.

I've used the big-box stores for years. The delivered price here beat them by a lot once I added their fees. No surprise charges at the end.

Frequently asked questions

Gabion stone is angular crushed stone — typically 2" to 4" — used to fill wire gabion baskets and as erosion-control armor. The angularity is critical: angular stones lock together inside the basket and resist settling under load, where rounded river rock would shift and consolidate.
