Material was spec-true, no surprises. That matters when I'm bidding tight. Wegravel has become my default for residential drops.

Half-acre project. The driver placed the load exactly where the crew could reach it. Saved us hours of shoveling.

What is Rip Rap used for?

Large 6"–12" angular armor stone for shoreline protection, channel armor, severe erosion control, and slope stabilization. Built to stop water in its tracks.

Shoreline & seawall armor
Permanent armor against wave action on lakes, ponds, and coastal edges. Angular shape locks together; size resists displacement by surf, ice, and boat wake.
Channel armor & spillways
Line stream channels, drainage ditches, and spillway aprons against high-velocity scour. Standard for stormwater outfalls and culvert energy dissipators.
Severe slope stabilization
Armor steep slopes and embankments subject to heavy rain and runoff erosion. Where smaller stone washes downhill, rip rap holds its position year after year.
Bridge abutment & pier protection
Standard scour-protection material around bridge piers, abutments, and culvert headwalls. Specified by DOT for permanent structural protection.
Pond & marsh edge stabilization
Stabilize the edges of retention ponds, wetland restorations, and marsh transitions. Resists undercutting; vegetates over time for natural look.
Decorative boulders & dry-creek anchors
Statement stones in dry creek beds, around large landscape boulders, and as anchor stones in xeriscape installations.
Not ideal for these applications:
  • Not ideal for driveways or any drivable surface
  • Not ideal for walking surfaces
  • Not ideal for small drainage systems
  • Not ideal for fine landscape work

Asked for FDOT-spec material and that's exactly what came off the truck. Driver had the ticket ready, weighed and clean.

Got a text when the truck left and another when it was 15 minutes out. That alone is worth switching from my old supplier.

Rip rap is large, angular crushed stone — typically 6" to 12", sometimes up to 18" — used as permanent armor against water erosion. You'll find it along lakeshores, river channels, bridge abutments, stormwater outfalls, and steep slopes.
