Soil looked rich and dark, no sticks or junk in it. Spread evenly and my lawn took off within two weeks.

What is Compost used for?

Finished organic compost — fully decomposed, screened, and ready to spread. Rebuild tired soil, top-dress lawns, amend garden beds, and feed plants naturally.

Soil amendment for gardens
Mix 2"–4" into existing garden soil to rebuild structure, add organic matter, and feed soil biology. Transforms compacted or depleted beds back into productive ground.
Lawn top-dressing
Spread a ¼"–½" layer over the lawn after core aeration to rebuild soil organic content, improve water retention, and support thicker turf — especially effective in sandy Florida lawns.
Vegetable garden booster
Side-dress vegetables mid-season with a 1"–2" compost layer to keep nutrients flowing through the growing cycle. Plants respond within a couple of weeks.
Tree & shrub planting amendment
Mix into planting-hole backfill at a 1:3 ratio with native soil. Slow-feeds new transplants while building long-term soil structure around the root zone.
Erosion blanket on slopes
Spread 2"–3" over disturbed slopes before seeding. Holds moisture for germination, prevents runoff during establishment, breaks down into the developing soil.
Mulch alternative around plantings
2"–3" layer around perennials and shrubs works like a darker, more nutritious mulch — feeding plants while suppressing weeds. Replace yearly.
Not ideal for these applications:
  • Not ideal as stand-alone planting media (too rich; mix with soil)
  • Not ideal for cactus or low-fertility plants
  • Not ideal for structural fill
  • Not ideal for paver bases or hard-surface applications

Frequently asked questions

Compost is organic material — yard waste, food scraps, manure, or wood waste — that has been biologically broken down by microorganisms into a stable, dark, soil-like product. Finished compost is mature (fully cured, low odor, low ammonia, good seed germination) and screened of large debris. It is one of the most powerful soil-building materials available.
