Ordered for our driveway in 2 minutes flat. The ZIP-code pricing was honest — what I saw at checkout is exactly what I paid. Truck rolled in next day.

What is Stone Dust (Screenings) used for?

Crushed limestone fines (3/8" minus) for paver bases, joint filling, pipe bedding, and driveway topping. Compacts to a dense, stable surface — and stays put.

Paver & flagstone base
Spread a 1"–2" layer beneath pavers and flagstones, then screed level. Stone dust locks in fine and tight, supporting pavers without rutting or shifting.
Joint filling between pavers
Sweep dry into the joints of brick, stone, or concrete pavers. Fills voids tightly, settles with water, and resists weed growth between stones.
Driveway topping & resurfacing
Top-dress existing gravel or limerock driveways with a 1" lift. Fines bind the surface, fill ruts, and reduce dust kick-up after compaction.
Pipe & utility bedding
Cradle utility lines, water pipes, and drainage tile with screenings. Compacts uniformly around pipe contours and protects against point loads.
Horse arenas & dog runs
Provides a firm, low-dust footing that compacts evenly and drains better than pure clay or sand. Ideal for paddocks, riding rings, and dog runs.
Shed & playset bases
Lay 2"–4" compacted as a flat, draining pad under garden sheds, swing sets, and playhouses. Cheaper than concrete, easier to install.
Not ideal for these applications:
  • Not ideal for structural concrete mixes
  • Not ideal for surfaces requiring high drainage (use clean #57 or #89 stone)
  • Not ideal for finished walking surfaces without a topping
  • Not ideal for plant-growing applications

I've used the big-box stores for years. The delivered price here beat them by a lot once I added their fees. No surprise charges at the end.

Frequently asked questions

Stone dust — also called commercial screenings, crusher fines, or quarry screenings — is the fine 3/8" minus material produced when limestone or granite is crushed. It contains both small angular particles and dust, which lets it pack into a dense, smooth, almost concrete-like surface when compacted.
